Preparations for 3rd Digital China Summit are Well Under Way

    According to the information provided by the Fujian Development and Reform Commission on April 8, the Fujian Development and Reform Commission, Digitalization Office, Cyberspace of Fujian Province, and the People’s Government of Fuzhou Municipality are working together to organize the 3rd Digital China Summit. The preparations are well under way.

    It’s preliminarily confirmed that the 16 forums will be hosted by ministerial-level agencies. Specifically, the Cyberspace Administration of China, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Ministry of Ecology and Environment of People’s Republic of China, National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, China Association for Science and Technology, Guangming Daily and China Electronics Corporation (CEC) will lead the organization of 14 forums, and the People’s Government of Fujian Province will host the other two forums on the Internet of Things and Digital Fujian. The specific organizers of forums have been initially defined. While most forums are to be held on the site of the Summit in Fuzhou, the intelligent manufacturing forum is planned to be held in Quanzhou, and some forums will be held in Xiamen. In this way, the whole province is mobilized to host the Summit and attract exhibitors and sponsors.

    The attraction of exhibitors and arrangement are going well. A dedicated ecology exhibition is planned, where leading companies including Huawei, Alibaba, Tsinghua Unigroup, China Electronics Technology Group (CETC) and Newland will present feature exhibitions about Kunpeng, blockchain, semiconductors and digital identity; emerging business formats including 5G network, blockchain, big data, satellite application will be presented; the ratio of new launches will be increased up to 50%; new technologies such as holographic display, facial recognition, ultra HD videos (4K) via 5G network will be adopted; more than 100 entities have submitted their application for exhibition, and leading players in the industry such as Huawei, ZTE, Alibaba and Tencent stated their continued support for the Summit. 

    All categories of the Digital China Innovation Contest, including digital government, Kunpeng computing, cybersecurity, intelligent healthcare, blockchain and primary and secondary school students are open for application successively. And a junior robot contest is planned to be held, making the contest a total of seven categories. The launch press conference has been held. Currently, contest questions are being solicited, and invitations are sent to a wide range of companies, schools, colleges and universities.

    Applied scenarios of the digital economy is to be expanded. A request has been submitted to the National Development and Reform Commission to launch hundreds of applied scenarios of the digital economy while Fuzhou will demonstrate such scenarios on the site.

    Matchmaking of digital economy projects is paying off. In the past two editions, Fujian signed a total of 462 digital economy projects with an investment of RMB 382.6 billion. The Digitalization Office of Fujian Province hosts regular project coordination meetings. At present, 120 projects have been built and put into operation, while another 270 projects are under construction. The Fujian Development and Reform Commission and Digitalization Office are mobilizing municipalities and prefectures in the province to carry out matchmaking services based on major topics such as digital economy pilot zones and digital silk road so as to increase the number of signed projects significantly.
