On April 13, 2020, the Hufu Cybersecurity Category of the Digital China Innovation Contest officially closed its entry.
The contest received a total of 1894 entrants of 681 teams from research institutes, key infrastructure units, major protected units, information security companies, IT companies and universities. As China’s first cybersecurity contest based on dual systems of Wintel and PK, it attracted many elite entries nationwide.

According to the organizing committee of the Hufu Cybersecurity Category, entries are from 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government, whose ratio of industry insiders and universities are basically the same. The 681 teams will compete in the online preliminary initiated on April 19, and the top 35 teams with the highest points will enter the final.
It’s known that the online preliminary adopts an internationally trending format of information security contests—Capture The Flag (CTF), in which teams are to use program analysis and other means to capture the specific string in a specific format (i.e. the flag) or other content from the competition environment set by the organizer, submit it to the platform for points.
Moreover, the online preliminary adopts a dynamic point system, through which the points each team scores will be adjusted based on the number of teams that have solved the puzzle, i.e. the bigger number of teams solving the puzzle, the lower the points each team gets. Besides, those teams that fix the puzzle in a shorter time will score more points and rank higher.
The contest sets itself apart from other information security competitions as its adopts the PK system made in China. PK system stands the Phytium CPU and the Kylin operating system, making it the real Chinses architecture. All the questions are designed based on the PK system, targeting the PK system in actual scenarios and previous loopholes.
Question experts of the category pointed out that the PK system embeds security capacity in the bottom of the operating system and CPU, and combines with application systems to deliver powerful PK system-based defense and integrated solutions. Meanwhile, collaboration among men, technologies and data ensure the system’s security, and timely security output, such as emergency responding and problem processing. Entering teams are advised to learn more about the PK system before the preliminary.
Results of the preliminary will be announced on April 23. 35 teams and five specially invited elite teams will then go to the offline final and compete against each other for a million prize. According to the organizing committee, the five mysterious teams are specially invited top teams in China. And all the information about these five teams and other finalists will be introduced later.
As the key high-end professional contest and essential part of the Digital China Summit, the Digital China Innovation Contest is organized by the organizing committee of the Digital China Summit with the theme of “Train New Momentum of Digital Economy, and Boost Development of Digital China”. The contest includes multiple categories, namely digital government, Kunpeng computing, Hufu cybersecurity, intelligent healthcare, blockchain and primary and secondary school student category, whose questions are designed based on application of big data about government affairs, innovative IT application, intelligent transformation of the healthcare industry, cybersecurity, blockchain technology and interests of primary and secondary school students respectively.
Among the categories, the Hufu Cybersecurity Category represents the Pride of Made in China—Applied PK System Battle. The category is co-organized by the Digital Fujian Development Taskforce Office of Fujian Province, Fujian Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, People’s Government of Fuzhou Municipality, China Electronics Corporation, Qi An Xin Group, and Beijing Integrity Technology Holding Co., Ltd.. The made-in-China PK system is adopted to simulate highly frequent threats facing typical business scenarios in finance, electric power, petroleum and petrochemical, civil aviation and other major industries. The competition follows the format of industry-specific hands-on exercises and national battle, aiming to enhance companies’ daily cybersecurity level through real scenarios of attack and defense.
Last but not least, congratulations on excellent performance of all the teams in the preliminary, and the 35 teams making it to the final!
