Finalists of Primary and Secondary School Student Category of Digital China Innovation Contest 2020 are Announced

    Recently, the semi-final of the Primary and Secondary School Student Category of the Digital China Innovation Contest 2020 (also known as the Fujian Provincial Exhibition of AI Works by Primary and Secondary School Students) was completed successfully. Experts of the organizing committee conducted an online anonymous review of the entries in the semi-final by education levels (primary school, junior high school, high school, and secondary vocational school), and selected a total of 60 entries into the final.

    The Digital China Innovation Contest 2020, an essential part of the Digital China Summit’s summit, exhibition and contest, is hosted by the organizing committee of the Digital China Summit with the theme of “Train New Momentum of Digital Economy, and Boost Development of Digital China”. Such a contest gathers leading powers in the politics, production, education and research communities to promote technological innovation and industrial application, and ensure firm support for the growth of digital economy.

    With a view to cultivate primary and secondary school students’ love for science and concentration on research, further provoking their passion for studying science and technology, and promoting primary education about AI, the 3rd Digital China Summit will increases involvement of such students in the Summit and the Digital China Innovation Contest. The 2020 edition of the contest adds junior category, and is co-organized by the Digital Fujian Development Taskforce Office of Fujian Province, Education Department of Fujian Province, Fujian Association for Science and Technology, and People’s Government of Fuzhou Municipality. Adopting the form of presenting AI works by primary and secondary school students, the contest solicits outstanding AI innovation projects by students at primary, secondary and secondary vocational schools within Fujian Province.

    According to the finalists announced, 27 entries are from Fuzhou, ranking the first in the province. Moreover, Fuzhou takes up 45% of all the finalists while Quanzhou accounts for 33.3% with 20 entries, Xiamen 11.7% with 7 entries, Sanming 5% with 3 entries, Putian 3.3% with 2 entries, and Ningde 1.7% with one entry.
