Recently, the Fujian Provincial Data Management Bureau released the 2026 List of Innovative Digital Economy Enterprises in Fujian. A total of 391 enterprises across the province were selected, including 2 unicorns, 35 future unicorns, and 354 gazelle enterprises. The number of innovative digital economy enterprises included this year increased by 41 compared with the previous year. Last year, two unicorns, Baige Online (Xiamen) Digital Technology Co., Ltd. and EACON Group Co., Ltd., successfully went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

According to the Notice of the Fujian Provincial Data Management Bureau on the Open Solicitation of Innovative Digital Economy Enterprises for 2026 (Min Shu Ju [2026] No. 15), a "unicorn" refers to an unlisted enterprise with a valuation exceeding US$1 billion, a "future unicorn" refers to an enterprise with a valuation between US$100 million and US$1 billion, and a gazelle enterprise refers to a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) with rapid growth in revenue and market share. Since 2020, the Fujian Provincial Data Management Bureau has conducted annual programs to identify unicorns and gazelle enterprises in the province’s digital economy sector. The number of recognized innovative digital economy enterprises in Fujian has grown from 89 in 2020 to 391 in 2026. A number of notable innovative digital economy enterprises, including Ruijie Networks, Fujian Tendering Co., Ltd., Baige Online, EACON, Optowide, and Longbamboo, have successfully gone public. An increasing number of high-quality enterprises featuring rapid growth, strong technological capabilities, robust innovation capacity, and a well-structured development pipeline are emerging, becoming key pillars of Fujian’s digital economy development.

In January 2026, the Fujian Provincial Development and Reform Commission (Fujian Provincial Data Management Bureau) issued the Ten Measures for Strengthening the Cultivation of Innovative Digital Economy Enterprises in Fujian Province. The document puts forward 10 practical and actionable measures across four key areas: identifying high-potential enterprises at an early stage, ensuring access to essential resources such as data, computing power, finance, talent, innovation support, and funding, expanding market opportunities, and fostering a supportive development environment. The measures include optimizing mechanisms for identifying innovative digital economy enterprises, launching initiatives to enhance the value of data as a key factor of production, driving the efficient supply of computing resources, strengthening financial supply-demand matchmaking, strengthening talent development, enhancing original innovation capabilities, coordinating fiscal support from various levels and sources, establishing a mechanism for open application scenarios and application-driven development, improving services for enterprises expanding overseas, and creating an open, inclusive, and prudent environment for enterprise development. According to information, the National Data Administration has established a national cultivation database for innovative digital economy enterprises, and Fujian has recommended 35 companies for inclusion in the database.
