China’s National Data Administration (NDA) announced on September 22 that China will roll out new measures to accelerate the development and utilization of data resources, focusing on 10 key industries.
The 10 industries include industrial manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, transportation and logistics, modern agriculture, energy and power, culture and tourism, education, commerce and circulation, and public utilities.
According to the NDA, efforts will be accelerated to implement the national fundamental data framework at the local level and in key industries. The administration encourages the establishment of industry data innovation consortia to promote the integrated use of public, enterprise, and social data in high-value applications across key industries. It will also work to develop data governance and utilization models that meet the needs of artificial intelligence development and foster integrated service capabilities spanning data, models and intelligent agents.
The first round of this campaign will be launched in Anhui Province, focusing on the automotive and healthcare sectors.
Wang Gengliang, Deputy Director of the Anhui Provincial Data Resources Administration, said, “Take the automotive manufacturing sector for example. The industrial chain involves multiple tiers and a wide range of participants. Data does not always flow smoothly among automakers, parts suppliers, financial institutions, and automotive aftermarket businesses. A key priority is to remove the barriers and bottlenecks that hinder data flows. We will focus on high-value applications along the industrial chain, including quality control, payment management, marketing forecasting, and after-sales services. We will also bring in industry partners with industry expertise, access to data, and technological capabilities to develop high-value data products and services.”
